Device for the detection of successive positions of a movable assembly, the movement of which is interrupted by successive stops distributed along the travel of this movable system, characterised in that it comprises: a magnetic plunger consisting of a soft-iron bar 10, at least one of the ends of which is provided with a magnet 12, this magnetic plunger being mounted on the movable assembly, the stop positions of which it is desired to detect; an induction coil 16 including a large number of turns and arranged on the said bar so that, during the movement of the movable assembly through the said coil, the magnetic plunger produces a current in this coil, this induced current being abruptly cut off upon the said movable system stopping, and an electronic device for receiving and processing the signal emitted at each abrupt cutoff of the induced current, in order to detect the successive stop positions of the movable system and to control the attached functions. <IMAGE>
