A device intended to avoid liquid grease produced by food 12 located on a grid 10 placed in a cooking oven when it is heated falling on the hot parts of the oven, such as the broiler pan or the bottom of the oven where it carbonises and thus produces unpleasant smoke, comprises an absorbing material 16 having a low specific heat, for example made of glass wool, supported by a frame 18 fastened to uprights 20 under the grid 10. The material 16 remaining cold in spite of the ambient temperature absorbs and stabilises, without carbonising it, the liquid grease which flows from the food 12. The dimensions of the frame 18 can be adjusted by means of sliding tubes 24, in order to be fitted to the dimensions of the grid 10. <IMAGE>
