PURPOSE:To obtain welding with good bead appearance by forming a core wire of a gravity welding rod into a hollow shape to decrease the rate of deflection owing to the weight of a holder. CONSTITUTION:A welding rod 3 consists of a core wire 1 which is coated externally with a coating material 2 and is formed to a hollow shape. More specifically, the core wire 1 made into a hollow pipe or hoop shape is used and the material 2 is coated around the same. Such welding rod 3 is set in a gravity jig and is used. The rod 3 is particularly a gravity welding rod for placing a fillet head having a small leg length and since said rod has larger rigidity with the same sectional area as compared with the conventional welding rod, the rate of deflection by the weight of the holder of the gravity jig is decreased and the base appearance after welding is stabilized. |
