PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC DISK MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To eliminate effectively only microprojections on the surface of a magnetic disk medium by setting the peripheral speed and the processing pressure of the medium at a prescribed level respectively by means of a polishing tape after processing the surface of the medium with the polishing tape. CONSTITUTION:The disk 1 of a magnetic disk medium is chucked by a spindle and turned. Contact rubber rollers 4 are held by parallel plate springs 5 which are effective to increase the value of spring contact K. These rollers 4 open and close on two slide bars 8 by the function of a tapered core 6 provided to an air cylinder 16 and press a polishing tape having <=15mm. with to both sides of the disk 1. Then the disk 1 is polished with the peripheral speed of the disk 1 set at >=250m/min and with <=50g/mm.<2> processing pressure set for the tape 12. Thus it is possible to delete only microprojections existing on the surface of the disk 1.
