PURPOSE:To prevent creepage and overflow of electrolyte to improve leakage resistance by sealing a battery by the first process by which the opening of a positive case is cramped inward by a sealing mold and the second process by which the outer diameter and overall height of the battery are formed in a specified dimension by a sealing mold having smaller diameter. CONSTITUTION:A positive case 4 having a positive active material 5 and a separator 6 is covered on a sealing plate 1 filled with a negative active material 3 and alkaline electrolyte and they are preliminarily sealed in the first process. Since the preliminarily sealed battery has larger overall height and outer diameter than specified dimensions, it is resealed in the second process so that height and diameter are kept within specified dimensions. In the resealing process, it is preferable that a battery is placed inversely in sealing molds 7, 8, and 9 and sealed. |
