PURPOSE:To reduce the wear of an electrode of a scanning stylus by applying a DC bias to obtain the positive and negative polarities for a disk and the electrode of the scanning stylus respectively. CONSTITUTION:A disk 1 is connected to a DC power supply 42 via a motor 54, rotary shaft 38, clamper 41, etc. An electrode 6b of a scanning stylus is grounded via a metallic ribbon 24, line 20, resistance 26, etc. The bias is applied to the disk 1 and the electrode 6b with positive and negative polarities respectively. Therefore the disk 1 and the electrode 6b keep the positive and negative polarities although a potential difference is generated between these disk and electrode due to the electric charge produced by the electrostatic induction generated by rubbing the scanning stylus with the disk 1 and stored, the leakage of output of a high frequency oscillating circuit 48 owing to an inductive connecting between lines 21 and 20, the contact between the disk 1 and the electrode 6b, chemical factors, etc. As a result, the side to be processed and the side of a discharging electrode have the positive and negative polarities respectively despite a discharge processing phenomenon caused by the difference of potential. |
