The coupler is used between an optical fibre light conductor and at least two optical elements which are fitted into respective reception chambers (16) in the transparent coupling block (10). The block incorporates at least two optical surfaces (20,22) lying in the optical path between each of the reception chambers (16) and the output end of the optical fibre light conductor. Pref. the transparent block (10) is made of injection moulded plastics, with at least one of the optical surfaces (20,22) providing total internal reflection of the incident light. Pref. the optical surfaces (20,22) are defined by an ellipse function or a parabolic function and they may be provided as the base of a respective recess (24,26) formed in the block (10).
