Evaporator for an air/water heat pump

In evaporators for air/water heat pumps, it is problematical under certain operating conditions to carry away the condensate which drips during the defrosting process, without additional heating of the collecting trough. As a result of the fact that the ambient air, which is guided through the evaporator by means of a fan, is divided into two air flows arranged parallel to one another, the first air flow being guided through the evaporator and the second air flow along the bottom of the collecting trough, simple construction of the evaporator is possible. In this manner it is ensured that, with ambient temperatures which lie only slightly above freezing point, freezing of the condensate in the collecting trough is avoided, without the collecting trough having to be heated by external energy for this purpose.
