In a device for producing wire-comb bindings for paper and printed products, the wire 2 to be drawn off from a supply reel or a drum by the wire-comb forming device 1 is formed in the latter to give a wire comb. In this process, the wire-comb forming device 1 performs intermittent withdrawal movements which, in accordance with the invention, are to be converted into a continuous movement of the wire. This is achieved by means of a rocking lever 6 which is driven by the wire-comb forming device 1 via a control cam 7 on which is supported a roller 4 and which can be pivoted backwards and forwards about the axis 5 of a fixed roller 3 by the control cam 7. In this arrangement, the diameters of both rollers 3, 4 are equal and, in the wire take-off direction, the wire 2 is first of all guided over the fixed roller 3 and then over the roller 4 pivotable by means of the rocking lever 6. <IMAGE>
