A displacement element of a high pressure pump for abrasive or corrosive liquids comprises a piston rod 1 and a piston 2 of ceramic, preferably oxide ceramic material, fixed to this by means of a detachable connection. The piston 2 has a blind hole 3, which in the area of the piston foot 18 is surrounded by a counterbore 6, which forms an annular surface 12. The annular surface 12 is relief-turned and has at least one recess 14 for the insertion of a bolt 17 to be fixed on the piston 2 by means of a ring nut 8. <IMAGE>
