PURPOSE:To recover sodium, calcium and iron components by attaching a calciner to a recovery boiler and by introducing smelted matter produced in the waste liquor burning section of the boiler into a soda dissolving vessel together with calcium ferrate formed in the calciner by calcining CaCO3 and iron oxide from the soda dissolving vessel using combustion gas from the boiler. CONSTITUTION:Waste liquor from a pulp manufacturing stage is blown into a recovery boiler 10 as a mist from a burner 13, heated air is fed from air feeding pipes 14, 15, and the waste liquor is burned to produce smelted matter. Hot combustion gas in the waste liquor burning section of the boiler 10 is introduced into a calciner 23 attached to the boiler 10 with a suction blower 27, and CaCO3 and iron oxide recovered from a soda dissolving vessel 16 are introduced into the calciner 23 through a transferring pipe 21. They are calcined in the calciner 23 to form calcium ferrate. The calcium ferrate and the smelted matter produced in the boiler 10 are introduced into the vessel 16, where they are dissolved in water from a feeding inlet 17 and reacted to recover sodium, calcium and iron components.
