In the sport of table tennis in particular, there are various types of shots by which the ball can be played in a particular way in order to make it difficult for the opponent to return the ball. The most effective, but also the most difficult type of shot is the so-called topspin shot, in which the ball is touched only obliquely with the bat or racket at maximum speed, in order to impart maximum rotation to it. Practising this shot requires explosive power training which should, however, be carried out under conditions which are as realistic as possible. This object is achieved by providing as a training device a sleeve for fastening to the lower arm and having a closable pocket which can be fastened to a sheet-like flexible supporting part and is intended for receiving a weight. <IMAGE>
