PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a special switch for mode setting by providing a mode deciding means which discriminates the kind of a mode to be set, a read-only memory stored with data classified by modes, etc. CONSTITUTION:A mode setter 20 is equipped with a mode discriminating circuit 21 which decides on a selected mode from the pressed state of a power switch 11, etc. The mode discriminating circuit 21 discriminates whether a copying machine is set in some mode other than normal modes or not. Its discriminating result 22 is supplied to a set data writing circuit 23 to read set data 25 on the mode out of the read-only memory 24, and the data is written in a nonvolatile memory 26. The data written in the memory 26 is read out as initia set data 27 every time a power source is turned on to perform necessary operation through a copying machine control part 28. Thus, the need for a special switch for mode setting is eliminated. |
