A tension fitting for double-insulator chains (1, 2) in high-voltage overhead lines has a rigid, plate-like frame (35) which acts as a spacer for the insulator chains (1, 2) and has two upper connecting points (10, 11) for the two insulator chains, and one or more lower connecting points (14) for a conductor cable or conductor harness, the centre of gravity (S) of the frame (35) being located above the connecting line between the two upper connecting points (10, 11), and the frame being connected via hinged fishplates (5, 7), which can pivot parallel to the plane of the frame, to the insulator chains, according to Patent Application P 3201247.0. By means of the invention, it is intended to ensure to an increased extent that the jerky forces occurring in the event of a possible fracture of one of the insulator chains (1, 2) do not lead to a consequential fraction in the second insulator chain which is still intact. It is therefore provided according to the invention that the frame (35) is connected to the two hinged fishplates (5, 7) above the connecting line between its two upper connecting points (10, 11), via damping elements (24, 25) which are bent in a meandering or W-shape and can be deformed permanently. <IMAGE>
