PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording medium stable to light, heat, moisture, gases and the like, capable of being used with recording light in near infrared and infrared regions and having favorable sensitivity, by incorporating a naphthalocyanine compound having a specified group in a recording layer, in an optical recording medium having the recording layer on a base. CONSTITUTION:At least one naphthalocyanine compound having a group of formula (I) or a group of formula (II), wherein each of X1 and X2 is S or O, R is a unbivalent group and Q is a bivalent group, is incorporated in a recording layer, in an optical recording medium comprising the recording layer on a base. The optical recording medium thus obtained has extremely little deterioration on reproduction by reading light, an enhanced light resistance, little deterioration of characteristics due to preservation in a bright room and excellent resistance to heat, oxidation, moisture and gases. In addition, the characteristics are little deteriorated on erasing and re-writing, and preservability is also enhanced. |
