<p>The invention relates to an electromagnetic fuel pump (P) which is incorporated in an existing diesel engine fuel supply system, and is intended both to pump diesel fuel when in a relatively low temperature, viscous state, and to heat the fuel. The pump (P) includes a solenoid (13), the core (17) of which constitutes the piston. The solenoid (13) is submerged in, and in intimate heat-transfer relation with, the fuel pump (P), so that heat generated in the solenoid winding (13a) due to energisation thereof serves to heat the fuel in the pump.</p> |
