CONVERTER OPERATING METHOD AND OXYGEN BLOWING LANCE

PURPOSE:To bring oxygen and CO in a furnace into reaction at a high speed and to increase the quantity of the heat to be transferred to a steel bath by the high-temp. gas of reaction by ejecting oxygen incorporated therein with plasma together with supersonic oxygen into the steel bath by using a lance having a special shape. CONSTITUTION:A plasma generator 3 is provided to the central part at the bottom end face of the lance 2 for blowing oxygen to the steel bath in a converter 1 and a subsonic oxygen ejection port 7 is provided around the same. A supersonic oxygen ejection port for refining is further provided around the port 7. The plasma is generated by the generator 3 during the refining by ejecting the oxygen from the supersonic oxygen ejection port 8. The oxygen is ejected from the subsonic oxygen ejection port 7 to form the subsonic oxygen flow contg. the plasma so that said oxygen jet and the CO in the furnace are brought into reaction. The resultant high-temp. gas of reaction is made to collide against the steel bath and the heat is transferred to the steel bath by convection. The heating efficiency is improved by the above-mentioned method.
