<p>Stable alkaline sols of anionic alumina hydrate may be made by calcining alumina trihydrate and milling the monohydrate produced under alkaline conditions. Alkaline sols containing both anionic alumina hydrate and anionic colloidal silica may be used for bonding refractory bodies.</p>
