PURPOSE:To facilitate extremely the control of sound recording levels in fade-in and fade-out times so that the recording level of a manual recording level controller is coincident with the recording level of an automatic recording level controller at an instant when a switch is changed over. CONSTITUTION:When an operation lever 9 of a variable resistor 2 is slid to the right, the recording level if increased. While the recording level is reduced when the lever 9 is slid to the left. Then the lever 9 is slid to the right to increase gradually the manual recording level, and therefore the tip of a slide plate 11 pushes a coupling piece 14a of a coupling lever 14. Thus a switch 4 is changed over toward a resistor 3. Under such conditions, the lever 9 is operated to the right, i.e., in the direction where the recording level is reduced. As a result, the switch 4 is switched toward the volume 2. Therefore the recording level has no change at all when the automatic mode is switched to the manual mode if the resistance value of the variable resistor 2 is set to the equal value of the register 3 at an instant when the switch 4 is operated to its switching direction.
