PURPOSE:To prepare antibiotic KA-6643-B, by cultivating a novel strain belonging to the genus Streptomyces. CONSTITUTION:A novel strain, Streptomyces sp.KC-6854(FERM-P 6880) belonging to the genus Streptomyces, capable of producing antibiotic KA-6643-B, its natural variant or artificial variant is inoculated into a nutritive medium, and cultivated under aerobic conditions at 10-40 deg.C, preferably at 27-34 deg.C for 2-7 days. Antibiotic KA-6643-B accumulated in the culture solution is collected.
