PURPOSE:To make a beautiful copy of a thick original such as a book by performing manual switching so that an image formation area is reduced for a small original, and stopping the formation of a latent image corresponding to an ejected nonimage formation area. CONSTITUTION:For example, when a book 12 is placed on platen glass 11 and its scanning-directional width L' is smaller than the width P of a standard image formation area in the scanning direction, a solid black part is prevented from being formed at an end part of a copied form. When the magnet M on a lamp unit 16 comes right under a sensor S, the lamp unit 16 and moving mirrors 17 and 19 stop moving as shown by an arrow (a) and never make a scan on the original up to the width P. Further, a photosensitive drum 22 is exposed on blank basis by a blank exposure source 27 on the completion of the original scan, so the copied transfer material has no solid black part. |
