PURPOSE:To input quickly and exactly a repair position by making a defect position indicator oppose to a surface defect, and executing a follow-up operation. CONSTITUTION:A running device 4 executes a reciprocating motion in a running direction (X axis direction) of a slab 2 on a rail 3. This moving extent in the X axis direction is detected by a pulse number of an X axis pulse generator 614. Also, a defect position indicator 75 is provided on the tip of a wire 72a fed out in the Y axis direction from the running device 4, and the feed-out quantity of the wire is detected by a pulse number of a Y axis pulse generator 77. Moreover, an angle detector 74 is provided on the running device 4, and it is controlled so that the indicator 75 coincides with the Y axis. As a result,the running device 4 follows a movement of the indicator 75 held by an inspector on the slab 2, runs and moves on the rail 3, and the direction of the running device 4 and the indicator 75 coincides with the Y axis direction. In this way, a repair position can be inputted quickly and exactly. |
