<p>1521569 Filled polystyrene laminates POLYSAR Ltd 18 Oct 1976 [22 Oct 1975] 43217/76 Heading B5N A thermoplastic laminate comprises at least one layer of filled styrene polymer composition containing 5-50 parts by weight of filler per 100 parts by weight of the filled styrene polymer composition and at least one layer of a dissimilar polymer which is a polyolefin or nitrile group containing polymer, the filled styrene polymer composition being the product of mixing a styrene polymer masterbatch with at least one polystyrene, the styrene polymer masterbatch comprising 100 parts by weight of impact polystyrene, 1-40 parts by weight of rubber, 10-200 parts by weight of filler and 1-40 parts by weight of rubber. The impact polystyrene is a styrene polymer containing grafted thereto 1-15% by weight of rubber which is polybutadiene, polyisoprene, a rubbery block vinyl or vinylidene aromatic hydrocarbonconjugated diolefin polymer or ethylene-propylene-diene rubber. The polystyrene mixed with the masterbatch may be a crystalline or impact polystyrene. The laminate may comprise an outer layer of crystalline polystyrene, a central layer filled styrene polymer composition and a second outer layer of polypropylene or nitrile group containing polymer. The laminates may be produced by co-extrusion of the layers. An adhesive may be provided between the layers. The filled styrene polymer composition may be foamed.</p> |
