The process is for varying the distance between a cutting device work machine (38), to which it is connected by fixture arms (2) of a stubble clearing mechanism. The distance is measured at a right angle to the forward drive direction of the work machine, and is altered by firstly varying the angle between the machine movement direction and the fixture arms. The angle is varied by pivoting the fixture arms and the cutting device in a direction transverse to the arm longitudinal axis. The force of gravity is thus so controlled that the cutting device is pivoted around the axis joining the cutting device and fixture arms through a specific angle in relation to the longitudinal axis of the arms. |
