PURPOSE:To obtain an even spacing distance and at the same time to facilitate control of the spacing distance by fixing the substrate of a thin film magnetic sensor and a terminal conductor into a metallic mold and packaging both the substrate and the conductor to a case by a low pressure molding method. CONSTITUTION:A thin film magnetic sensor (MR element) 3, a substrate 2 of glass containing an electrode 4, a protecting plate 16, and a terminal conductor 5 connected to the electrode 4 are fixed into a metallic mold. A case 1 is formed by a molding process. In this case, (d) cn be decided from the sum W=(8Rd- 4d<2>)<1/2> of thickness of the substrate 2 and the plate 16, where (d) is the distance (10mum) between apexes of radius R of a sliding surface at the end face of the substrate 2. Thus the spacing size can be controlled with high precision by defining the sum W as a control standard. |
