PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a mirror caused by a washing brush of a car washer by providing a sensor to detect a car prior to the washing brush. CONSTITUTION:A washing brush 7 is projected towards the inside of a car washer main body 6, which is advanced to a car 1. Thereby, a sensor 9 is brought in contact with a mirror arm 2 to detect it, and at this stage, the position of the car washer 6 is stored in a memory circuit of a control unit. When the car washer is further advanced, the washing brush 7 is brought in contact with a front face 5 of the car 1, and at this stage, the position of the car washer main body 6 is also obtained. The difference of the above-said two positions is equivelent to a distance DELTAl between the mirror 3 and the front face 5. Under this condition, the car washer main body 6 is stopped temporarily, and the front face 5 is washed by the washing brush 7. After finishing the washing of the front face 5, the main body 6 is drawn back by DELTAl, and the brush 7 is released toward the main body 6. |
