The present invention relates to the transmission of an amphibious all-terrain vehicle fitted with any number of axles, all of whose wheels are drive wheels and which changes direction by skidding. Transmission is not solely ensured by chains, which are lubricated in order to limit the wear thereof, but also with sets of gears; the two sets of wheels are independent which makes it possible to increase the ground clearance, the vehicle is fitted with variable gauge and may be equipped with caterpillar tracks; propulsion on water is provided by fluid jets. The devices which form the subject of the invention allow the manufacture of an amphibious all-terrain vehicle of robust design while providing maximum safety, and is capable of progressing over a long period of time over steep slopes and over ground which offers little support.
