PURPOSE:To enhance flaw detecting force and a steel piece inspecting speed, by a method wherein a steel material is advanced while the flow-falling suppression and stirring of a magnetic powder liquid at the leading end part of the arrival steel material is attained by blowing pressure gas in the forward position from the predetermined position in a magnetized region and steady wiping off operation is subsequently performed at a predetermined position. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of non-steady nozzles 3-2, 3-3 are further arranged other than a steady nozzle 3-1 at the forward position from said steady nozzle 3-1 in the magnetized region A so as to leave an interval therebetween. At the central part of a steel piece, the magnetic powder liquid sprinkled from a sprinkling nozzle 4 in the upstream side functions as resistance to form a certain kind of ''wall'' B in the magnetic powder liquid film formed in the magnetized region. On the other hand, the magnetic powder liquid is pushed to the upstream side by the air blow from the nozzle 3-1 but collided with the aforementioned ''wall'' B generated in the magnetic powder liquid to generate the vortex C in the liquid film as shown by the drawing. By thickening the film thickness of the magnetic powder liquid on the steel piece by the vortex action and the ''wall'' action in the upstream side, a large amount of the magnetic powder is adhered to a flaw part to increase the fluorescent contrast of the flaw part and detecting power is enhanced. |
