Centrifugal pump for liquids containing solid materials, which comprises a rotor 1 with several fins or blades, characterised in that the leading edge 3 of the blade 2 of the rotor is curved inwards towards the rear with respect to the direction of rotation of the rotor, in a rear plane perpendicular to the meridian plane, so that the internal sharp edge 5 of the blade is situated in front of the external sharp edge 5 of the blade, in that the angle which the leading edge and the external sharp edge of the blade respectively make in a meridian plane and in the said rear projection plane is an obtuse angle; in that the external end 10 of the leading edge of the blade is situated behind a shoulder 9, and in that the said shoulder and/or the internal wall of the casing of the pump are fitted with one or more grooves 11 comprising a cutting sharp edge 13 which interacts with the external end of the leading edge of the fin of the pump rotor, in order to obtain a chopping effect. <IMAGE>
