Deriv. of the methyl ester of 14,15-dihydro 14-beta-hydroxy (3 alpha, 16 alpha) eburnamenine 14-carboxylic acid, of formula (I) is made by reacting 14,15-dihydro 14 beta-hydroxy (3 alpha, 16 alpha) eburnamenine 14-carboxylic acid with diazoethane in a non-polar solvent such as ether, a hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon at around 0 deg.C..
