The invention relates to a hand printer for transferring raised characters onto a printing product with the aid of a printing cylinder for rolling over and pressing the printing product onto a base provided with the characters. Known hand printers are only suitable for printing sets of forms. Fixed characters cannot be transferred. According to the invention, such a transfer is made possible by the fact that the hand printer has a hollow housing for receiving the printing product and is provided with a handle. The printing product is conducted over a printing cylinder which discharges or transfers ink, projects over the housing towards the outside and serves for pressing and advancing simultaneously. The printing product can be torn off after the printing operation or wound up again. <IMAGE>
