A glass building block wall with glass building blocks separated from one another and fixed next to and one on top of another on retaining webs by retaining beads, the glass building blocks being clipped by retaining beads with a retaining profile and clamped in a peripheral retaining frame. The glass building blocks have 2 mm to 25 mm high retaining webs and countersunk shoulders all round their edges, which afford the retaining beads and cover strips so much space that the glass building block wall remains smooth on its external surfaces.
