A binary digital microprocessor is arranged to perform rotations and additions on complex input variables A + jB by means of binary shifts and additions. The functions cos 0 &cir& / and sin 0 &cir& / are appromimated by the functions C(m) and S(m) respectively, where, C(m) = 1-2 <-(2m+1)> and S(m) = 2<-m>, to achieve rotation by an angle 0 &cir& / = tan<-1> S(m)/C(m). The input variables may correspond to the exponential terms of a discrete Fourier transform, and the microprocessor may therefore be used for frequency analysis. |
