PURPOSE:To perform efficiently a continuous preliminary treatment of molten iron by streaming continuously the molten iron down onto a molten iron spout, charging acceleratively a molten iron treating agent to the scattering and falling flow branched from midway of the flowing section thereof and dispersing and adding said agent. CONSTITUTION:Molten iron which flows continuously downward at the end of a molten iron spout 1 toward a tilting spout 3' is branched by a partition weir 8 and down flow 2 is dispersed into a flowing section 4 on a down stream side. An additive for desiliconizing the molten iron is accelerated at >=30m/s in the swirling fluid region 7 enclosed of a broken line produced on the surface of the molten iron in the section 4 and is acceleratively charged 6 in the three places of shaded parts 7', 7'', 7'''. The addition of the additive for preliminary treatment of the molten iron is thus effectively and aequately accomplished without requiring any special modification of equipment. The continuous preliminary treatment of the molten iron is thus accomplished much more advantageously than by conventional techniques. |
