Apparatus for avoidance or substantial reduction of solvent emissions in distillation systems

In distillation systems for purification, concentration and/or recovery of solvents, to avoid or substantially reduce solvent emissions, an apparatus is proposed which comprises a closed vessel having at least two compartments. The first larger compartment of the vessel is connected to all exhaust gas lines of the distillation system in question and serves to collect the exhaust gases and separate the liquid portions and condensates of the exhaust gases. The first compartment is provided at the base with an outlet line, through which the liquid components of the exhaust gases are passed out. The second compartment of the vessel is connected to the first compartment and contains a suitable absorption liquid, in which the solvent vapours of the first compartment are absorbed from the inert gases. Devices are provided for recovering the solvents from the absorption liquid.
