PURPOSE:To obtain a negative image high in sensitivity, contrast, and max. density, and superior in graininess by treating a photosensitive photographic element with a processing soln. contg. a reducing agent and a substance dissolving metal salt grains in the presence of a specified compd. CONSTITUTION:A negative image is formed on a support by processing a photosensitive photographic element composed of (1) photosensitive silver halide, (2) metal salt grains more soluble than said silver halide and having each surface made hardly soluble with a hardly-solubilizing agent, and (3) physical development nuclei with a soln. contg. a reducing agent in the presence of compds. represented by formulae I or II and III in which R1 is H, alkyl, or the like; X is O or S; Y is H, alkyl, or the like; (n) is 5-200; a+b+c=20-80; b=15-50; A is lower alkylene or the like; B is polyalkylene ether not combining through O; A' is lower alkylene or the like; B, B' are each -NH- or the like; R is lower alkyl or the like; R' is lower alkyl; and Z is -S- or the like. |
