PURPOSE:To increase a copying speed without increasing a system speed by combining a sheet of ordinary copy and one or (n) sheets of retention copy as one unit and repeating the copy of this combination. CONSTITUTION:The first sheet of a copy is carried out in a normal copy mode, and (n) sheets of copy including the next 2nd sheet are carried out in a retention copy mode without erasing an electrostatic latent image of the first sheet. The copy of this combination is defined as one unit and repeated. The interval (b) between the first and second sheets is equal to the value obtained by subtracting the copy size from the circumferential length of a drum. It is possible to form immediately a new latent image following the rear edge of the electrostatic latent image after the copy of the second, fourth sheets, etc. in the copy mode of combination of two sheets. The interval (a) of this case can be reduced down to the minimum interval for paper feed. Thus the copying speed can be accelerated by a degree equivalent to (b-a). As a result, the copying speed can be increased without increasing the system speed. |
