METHOD FOR CONTROLLING TEMPERATURE OF HIGH CARBON STEEL BLOOM

PURPOSE:To provide a product free from an internal crack by regulating the track time required to charge a continuously cast bloom of high carbon steel into a soaking pit after completing the casting. CONSTITUTION:When continuously cast bloom of high carbon steel contg. >=0.40% C and satisfying C+Mn/5>=0.55% is rolled to a square or round billet, the track time required to charge the bloom into a soaking pit after completing the casting is regulated to <=4.25hr. Thus, a billet free from internal cracks can be manufactured.
