In order to generate small DC voltages, without a transformer, from the mains AC voltage (UAC), the DC voltage (UDB) obtained by means of a full-wave rectifier (G) is supplied to the series circuit consisting of a power switch (T) and the charging capacitor (C) with the load resistor (RL) connected in parallel. Switching logic (V) switches the power switch (T), with the output voltage (UGB), in the vicinity of the zero crossover of the mains AC voltage (UAC).
