Method for utilizing wind energy whereby a flow field is generated by means of a cylindrical rotor (1) rotating about its longitudinal axis from the circulation flow related thereto and the wind. The blowing wind is deviated to one side and its speed is considerably accelerated due to the pressure drop in the flow path. In the flow field, the blades (7) of a vertical turbine rotate and draw energy out of the accelerated wind flow.
