A switching device is used for the selective switching of a plurality of electrical loads in the case of electric cookers, a manually adjustable control switch being allocated to the loads. In addition, an adjustable time-switching device is provided via which a specific switching-on duration can be preset in a time-delayed manner. In order to provide for delayed switching on via this time-switching device only of that circuit or those circuits whose control switch or switches has or have been moved out of the zero position, each control switch has an additional signalling contact 8, which is closed outside the zero position. These signalling contacts are connected via logic elements 4, 5 to a microcomputer 2 which is programmed as a time-switching device and, at the same time, emits a multiplex signal to the logic elements 5 and hence interrogates the switching state of the signalling contacts 8. Each signalling contact 8 has allocated to it a switching element 12 which is controlled by the microcomputer 2 and correspondingly switches the circuit for the load to the input data when the associated signalling contact 8 is closed. <IMAGE>
