Crystallization of a titanum trichloride catalytic conponent from a mixt. (I) of titanium tetrachlorde, organic ether compd. and organic aluminium compd., in the presence of ole- fine, involves, preparing a mixed solvent (II) of 20-70 vol.% halogenized aromatic hydrocarbon and a single or mixed soln. of satd. aliphatic hydrocarbon and ringed hydrocarbon; adding (I) to (II) at 55≦̸C or lower; increasing the temp. of this mixt. to 45 -150≦̸C for 10 min. -24 hus.; producing (or crystallizing) titanium trichloride catalytic components by adding again one or both of the organic ether compd. and titanium tetrachloride during the temp. increase. The produced components are used to polymerize alpha-olefins.
