A device for rotating internal combustion engine valves loaded by helical springs comprises a baseplate, on which there is rotatably mounted, with the interposition of a rolling-contact bearing, an abutment which supports the spring and the rotary motion of which is blocked in one direction by a one-way clutch. The design is such that the one-way clutch (11) is arranged in the radial annular space between the valve stem (2) or its guide sleeve (4), on the one hand, and the valve spring (5, 6) on the other hand.
