A clamping connection 7 of the closed type of construction with a U-shaped top strap 9, overlapping the flanges 4 of the enclosed channel-section segment 6, and a U-shaped bottom strap 11 encompassing the enclosing channel-section segment 5. Top strap 9 and bottom strap 11 each have laterally projecting flanges 24, 33 for clamping bolts 44 to pass through. The clamping bolts 44 have curved, non-profiled sections of length 30 between the bolt heads 29, configured like hammer heads, and the bolt threads 32. The bolt heads 29, of convex configuration in two axes on the underside, are supported in transition areas 25, curved in a circular-arc shape, between the strap flanges 24 and the strap legs 22 on the rounded longitudinal edges of a longitudinal groove 15 formed on the top side of the top strap 9. The bolt nuts 36 are supported on semi-cylindrical recesses 34 of the flanges 33 of the bottom strap 11. <IMAGE>
