PURPOSE:To contrive the improvement in photoelectric conversion efficiency by composing a photoelectric conversion molecular element by arranging a single molecular film of a compound comprising three different function parts, namely electron donating, light absorbing, and electron accepting parts in one molecule between electrodes while preventing excited molecules from coming in contact directly with the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A single molecular film of a compound comprising three different function parts, namely an electron accepting part A, a light absorbing part S, and an electron donating part D (a three-function compound) is oriented in such a order as electrode electron accepting part light absorbing part electron donating part with respect to one electrode, or in the reverse order as electrode electron donating part light absorbing part electron accepting part. Thus, for one electrode, the single molecular film structure restraining the orientation of the parts A, S, and D in one molecule as A S D is used, thereby restraining the reverse electron moving reaction with respect to the electron moving reaction in forward direction so as to improve a photoelectric conversion efficiency.
