It enables the users, while ensuring their safety against falling, to be raised to about 70 m above the ground (1) and lowered again at a speed which is variable and in some cases greater. To this end, a tower (2) has transversely projecting boom arms (4) at its upper end, from each of which an elevator cable (5) is freely suspended bearing, at its free end, a passenger support (11) with a parachute (12). This cable (5) runs at the boom arm (4) over a deflection roller (6) into the tower (2) and onto a brakable cable winch, by means of which the passenger support (11) can be raised and lowered, the air resistance collapsing the parachute (12) somewhat during raising and tensioning it in the manner of a cupola during lowering. <IMAGE>
