A dental filling composition contains a finely divided inert inorganic filler which consists of at least 65% by weight titanium silicate, its particle size preferably ranging from the submicron range to 10 mu m, and a liquid, polymerisable resin binder. The ratio by weight of filler to binder is generally 1:1 to 6:1. Compared with those conventionally used, the properties of the fillers, such as transparency, shade of colour, coefficient of thermal expansion and compressive strength, are very close to those of the healthy tooth structure. In addition, they have a low thermal conductivity and a high Knoop hardness.
