The one jaw (9) moves in relation to the other (10) with the aid of a rotatable screw (12) which grips into a nut component (13) distant from the second jaw. The movable jaw (9) comprises two separated and parallel contact surfaces which, when a workpiece is clamped between the jaws, locate tightly against upper and lower parallel contact surfaces (18) in the guides (11, 11'). This ensures the non-frictional retention of the workpiece in the required position. The contact surfaces of the movable jaw (9) are displaced relatively to each other in the longitudinal direction of the guide. This allows the jaw to pivot or otherwise move with a loose fit relatively to the guides when it is in a tensionless, untightened state. |
