PURPOSE:To produce a lightweight baglike sheet excellent in durability, by connecting two-layered woven fabric or knitted cloth at desired sections by connecting threads to be formed into a quilted baglike body, filling the baglike with thermoplastic foamable resin particles, and heating them by steam to cause them to foam and expand. CONSTITUTION:Two approximately rectangular pieces of woven fabric or knitted cloth are connected by stitching them with connecting threads 20 to be formed into a baglike body 10 with an opening section 11 remained unstitched. A polyolefin resin such as a polyethylene, polypropylene, etc. is used as nuclei, a styrene type monomer and a catalyst for polymerizing said monomer are absorbed into said nuclei, and the styrene is polymerized to form graft-bonds to produce foamable resin particles. Then a foaming agent is added to foam them to prepare prefoamed particles, and the baglike body is filled with the prefoamed particles that are introduced from the opening section 11. After the opening section 11 is closed, the baglike body is placed in a steaming chamber 40. Steam is allowed to permeate into the baglike body 10, and heat the particles (B) to expand them, so that a foamed body 30 is formed to produce the desired baglike sheet 1. |
