PURPOSE:To provide a ball screw with no play and high accuracy, by making the screw grooves of a ball screw mechanism to hold balls for lapping purpose, which engage the grooves rather tightly, and forcing the ball screw mechanism to rotate to perform the lapping, and then assembling the ball screw mechanism with regular balls inserted therein. CONSTITUTION:A hard alumite film t1 and a painted layer t2 are applied to the surfaces of screw grooves provided between an outer cylinder 7 and an inner cylinder 4 of a ball screw mechanism. The cylinders 7, 4 are made to hold balls 18' for lapping purpose between their grooves the balls engaging the grooves rather tightly, and forced to rotate, while a lapping agent is supplied therebetween, so that lapping finishes are provided on the surfaces. Thereafter, the ball screw mechanism is assembled with balls slightly smaller in diameter and softer in material than and in place of the lapping balls. |
